"Explosion" a collaborative performance between contemporary dance, music, 

coffee and video art will be held on JANUARY 5, 6pm and 8pm at the 

Toccata Studio at 19B, SS2/55, Petaling Jaya. 

Contemporary dancer Low Shee Hoe and Miu Ng, 

together with music composer Ng Chor Guan and 

hand make siphon Coffee by Huey Ling from Await Café 

will bring to the audiences this unprecedented performance.

“Explosion”, symbolize a disaster enough to make it a metaphor for the end of the world. 

What is going to happen after an explosion? 

Sense of sight, sense of hearing, sense of taste, sense of nose,

 our senses are the first in contact to the environment.

 We look forward to the effect of interaction between various senses. 

Could it provoke anxiety? Could it motivate enthusiasm? 

Could it stimulate encouragement? 

May it be impulsive or intentionally, may it be cultivated or spontaneous,

 join us for this unprecedented yet exciting collaborative performance of its kind.

  

  Toccata Studio, which promotes arts, music and culture primarily, is not only a platform for musicians but it is also a place for various forms of music and arts. We welcome everyone to join us in our effort of creating awareness of arts and join us in supporting our promotion for music and arts.

“爆炸”一场融合现代舞 ＋ 现场即兴音乐 ＋ 现场手冲虹吸式咖啡 ＋ 现场映像的综合演出。谨定于 2013 年 1 月 5 日傍晚 6 时正及晚上 8 时正在八打灵 19B, SS2/55 的 Toccata Studio 拉开序幕。我国青年舞蹈家刘诗豪、吴绣妤，将配合青年音乐家黄楚原现场即兴创作，并且由 Await Café 的蕙玲现场手冲虹吸式咖啡，为大家呈现一场空前的综合演出。

“爆炸”隐喻末日之后。爆炸之后，人们面临的是一场全新的开始。感官最先接触全新的空间，视觉、听觉、味觉、嗅觉，相互碰撞将产生什么样的火花？时而并列而行，时而背道而驰；自有形到无形，自虚幻到现实，刺激、澎湃、平淡、激昂；循序而渐进，反转而逆行，这将是一场什么样的感触？这会是一部什么样的故事？这又是一段什么样的经历？这可是一出什么样的画面？欢迎各界人士踊跃参与，出席这项与众不同的综合演出。

IF IT’S NOT NOW, THEN WHEN?
Feature length, Family Drama, 86 minutes, Chinese dialects with English subtitles
Written, Directed by James Lee

The movie is supported by Krishen Jit Astro Funds and Hubert Bal Funds of Rotterdam. All screenings are accompanied by a Q&A session with the director & casts.

If It’s Not Now, Then When? mostly takes place in an apartment inhabited 

by three members of a family (though never at the same time): mother Pearlly Chua

 (from Tsai Ming-liang’s I Don’t Want to Sleep Alone), 

daughter Tan Bee Hung and young son Kenny Gan. 

Their father seems recently to have died. 

The mother leaves early and returns late, out on long walks in the park with a lover 

whom the daughter and her best friend try to spy on. 

The daughter pecks away at a computer at work and has a desultory affair 

with her married boss, which he carries on between his business and family phone calls.

 And the son breaks into cars and “recycles” the electronics he finds.

Lee’s characters are superb at indicating, despite their placid, 

seemingly calm exteriors, that tension inflected with despair lurks just underneath. 

With precise control, Lee circulates the three characters through 

ever-overlapping spaces, as they seek ways to connect with each other.

 When the final eruption occurs, it is all the more fierce, disturbing, despairing—and quite possibly (even controversially) somehow satisfying.
